Scott tricked a young lady named Tammy into falling in love with him and his crazy sense of humor, and as he would say, his “strikingly good looks and undeniable charm”, many moons ago. To be exact, she had him wrapped around her finger a little over 30 loving, child and grandchild filled years!
Scott had a personality out of this world. There’s a very good chance you will never meet another person like him. He had an overwhelming desire to be the center of attention no matter where he was or what the situation at hand may have been! He had a true gift at making everyone laugh at any given time, even in situations when laughter wasn’t expected he could cause someone to crack a smile. You always had to be prepared for whatever his broken filtered brain was going to come up with next!
He’d recently become obsessed with strawberries and even “accidentally” started dressing in red at times. He didn’t care what he had to do to get his giant containers of strawberries, just as long as he had some!
Scott had a deep love for his grandchildren and had a sweet and quirky relationship with each one. He taught them the art of “digging for gold” at very young ages. He loved to teach and trick them with animal sounds, teaching them that cats bark and dogs quack. Despite his antics, his grandchildren knew Papaw was there for them no matter what.
Scott had many passions, including kayaking with his brother, Rick, and son, Scotty. Even though he couldn’t keep quiet long enough during their trips, he looked forward to each trip, as did Rick and Scotty.
Scott did have bits of seriousness in his, as he served in the Army National Guard when he was young.
His way with words and love for writing could put your mind and heart at ease. Whether it was a simple conversation, beautiful and thoughtful poem, or words of wisdom, his words are something many people will not forget. His writing could capture your mind, heart and soul. It was as if through his words you were truly seeing and feeling things through someone else’s heart.
Scott was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda; brother, Steve; and parents.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy; children, Misty, John Scott II, Brandi and Kyle; 15 grandchildren; and siblings, Rick, Jeff, Tim and Cindy.
