Johnie graduated from Reitz High School and served in the US Army. He worked as a truck driver, a mechanic and for the County Garage. Johnie was a member of the River Bend Association, the American Legion and Teamsters Local 215. He was a hard worker and lover of the open road. He was an avid bike rider, loved family time and it didn’t matter whose family he was just happy to be a part of it. Johnie was generous to a fault, always wanted to shower those in his life with acts of kindness and affection. He had a quick wit and silly sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Hatfield; grandparents, Walt Hatfield, Jack Barlett and Joann Barlett; uncle Mike Barlett
Johnie is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Hatfield; sons, Cory Hatfield, Kylan Hatfield, Blaine Hatfield; mother, Jacqueline K. Evans (Ricky Prevo); father, John Hatfield; brother, Jack O’Neal Hatfield (Summer Roedel); nephews, Triston O’Neal Hatfield, Leighton Hatfield; uncles Roger Barlett (Bambi), Jeffrey Barlett, Rodney Barlett, Ricky Barlett (Bonnie), Walter Owen Hatfield; aunts, Kim Dewitt and Marie Franklin; his best friends, Amber Labaw, Steve Rudisill, Robin Craig, Brian Mayes, Tom Tichenor and Laura Tichenor.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Alexander North Chapel officiated by Rev. Jeff Long with burial to follow n Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit on Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
The Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
