

The Order of DeMolay was very important to Johnny and he was a member of the Evansville Compton Chapter. He was a good person and wanted to take care of everyone, often asking anyone he met, "How was your day?" Johnny made friends easily and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his baby sister, Sleepy Bennett Payne.
Johnny is survived by his mom and dad, Angela Payne and Joe Bennett; biological father, Shawn Thacker; siblings, CJ Thacker, Anthony Payne, Kathryn Payne, Myia Payne, Kenneth Payne, Jay Payne, Jancen Payne, Clara Payne, Cynthia Payne, and Chris Thacker; grandparents, Rhonda Bennett, Connie and Richard Thacker, Joan Payne, and Steve and Barb Payne; as well as aunts, uncles, great aunts, and great uncles.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Alexander West Chapel, with burial to follow in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
