He fought for our country for many years, as he served in the United States Army. He was very proud and loved to share his war stories. After the army, he worked as a pipe fitter for Local 136 until he retired in 2010. He loved photography, and in his later years took a class at Ivy Tech to refresh his skills. He also loved to put puzzles together with his “puzzle buddy” Tena Gray. He was a kind, intelligent, hardworking man, and a friend to all that had the privilege to meet him.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Faye Harris.
He will be greatly missed by daughter, Ebony Harris; sons, Michial and Jody Harris; grandchildren, Nedra, Tristan, Michial, and Shannese Harris; dear friend and caretaker of 10 years, Angela Gray and her children (that he considered to be family) Brandon, Caleb, Jessica and Christian Hardin; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road. Friends may visit Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Evansville Clinic, 6211 Waterford Blvd., Evansville, IN 47715. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderNorthChapel.com.
