Joseph “Joe” H. Hayes, 90, of Evansville, IN, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Heritage Center at Holiday Health Care. He was born October 31, 1925, in Plaquemine, LA, to the late Frank and Olamp Hayes.
He enjoyed the resale business. Joe retired from Alcoa as a Union Steward after 22 years. He was a member of Local 104. He often worked with Habitat for Humanity building houses.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy; children, Frank Hayes (Diane), Reedena Hayes, Cheryl DiVietro (Joe), Kevin Hayes; grandchildren, Christy Mitchell (Trey), and Jena Hayes, Kari Wilcher (Billy Ray), Karla Harness (David), Joseph DiVietro, Tara Basham (Chad); great-grandchildren, Carly, Annabel, Claire, Reid, Hayes, Jolie, Aniston; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 29, 2016, at Alexander East Chapel with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 4-8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
