

She attended Reitz High School and graduated from Central High School.
June was a life-long caretaker and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She enjoyed fishing and playing Yahtzee with her husband. She was a Cardinals Baseball and IU Basketball fan. She also enjoyed traveling both overseas and in the US. Cities she visited included Rome, Paris, and Acapulco.
June attended Blue Grass United Methodist Church until her health wouldn’t allow it.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years in 1984, Melvin R. Pfender; parents, Mortimer and Edith Sandefur; and sisters, Evelyn, Vivian, and Aline.
June is survived by her sons, Melvin Gary Pfender (Esther) of Greenwood, IN, Thomas R. Pfender (Susan) of Evansville; grandchildren, Shawn Pfender (Collette) of O’Fallon, MO, Michelle Drake (Alan) of Martinsville, IN, David Pfender (Amanda) of Evansville, and James Pfender of Evansville; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Samuel, and Danielle Pfender all of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
June’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Good Samaritan Home, especially the east unit for their wonderful care.
By June’s request, her family will be having a private funeral service with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
