Karen (Kerr) Leach, 75, of Evansville, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, at Deaconess Gateway. She was born December 2, 1942, in Washington, Indiana, to the late Jon and Bonnie (Quiggins) Kerr.
Karen was raised in Petersburg, Indiana. She attended Petersburg High School and St. Benedict College in Ferdinand, Indiana and was proud to have received a Master’s degree from the University of Evansville. She was a primary grade teacher at many local schools. Karen was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In retirement, she loved to travel with her husband, Chuck, who formerly worked for the Evansville Courier and Press. She loved attending the University of Evansville basketball games and enjoyed shopping.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Chuck Leach; daughter Katie Payton, son, Chris Leach, grandchildren, Olivia and Bella Payton; sister, Mary Beth Johnson (John) and brother, Timothy Kerri (Terri).
Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:00 AM Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Road, officiated by Fr. Bernie Etienne. Friends visited Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel and Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
