

Karen Anne Schnakenburg of Evansville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the age of 68. She was born on March 30, 1957, in Evansville, Indiana where she grew up. Karen loved her family and enjoyed hearing stories of her nieces and nephews and their activities.
Karen graduated from Reitz High School in 1975 and received an associate's degree from ITT Technical Institute in Data Processing/Computer Programming.
She worked as a data processor for Fifth Third Bank until 2002 when her health began to decline. Karen enjoyed working with all types of crafts and enjoyed making presents for friends and family. In her younger days, she enjoyed baking decorative cakes and homemade breads.
She was a 49-year member of Isis Temple No. 41, Daughters of the Nile and was a lifetime member of Central United Methodist Church. She was a Majority member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and served as Worthy Advisor in 1974.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Patricia Schnakenburg; and her nephew, John David Schnakenburg.
She is survived by her brother, David Schnakenburg (Sherri); her sister, Linda Trible (Michael); nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Columbia Healthcare Center and Gentiva Hospice for the care and compassion they showed to Karen, especially during her final days.

A Daughters of the Nile memorial service will be held at 12:45 pm on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Alexander Funeral Home West, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm., with Rev. Jan Akers-Du Bois officiating.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 10:30 am until the memorial service at 12:45 pm.
Interment will follow in Alexander Memorial Park, 2200 Mesker Park Dr., in Evansville.
