He was a WWII US Army Veteran and retired from Creative Press after 37 years of service. He was a member of Bethel Temple Community Church. Joe enjoyed serving others with joy, peace, kindness, faithfulness, longsuffering and gentleness.
Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha (Perry) Cawthon, of Evansville; son, Greg and Sandy Cawthon of St. Wendel, IN; grandchildren, Julie Powell and William Culiver; great-grandson, Houston Powell; nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Clifton Perry, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
