IN THE CARE OF
Alexander Funeral Home-West Chapel
Larry Edmonson passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Larry was born in Evansville on November 21, 1936.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Janet Edmonson, sisters; Meraloyd Stansberry and Nettie Jane Mason and infant brother James Edmonson.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lori Meyers (Wayne Bohm) and Gayle Gross (John) all of Evansville. He is also survived by grandchildren Rebecca Meyers, Jeff Meyers, Kyle Gross and Zachary Gross, as well as great-granddaughter Ellie Southard.
“Come in, come in!” Larry welcomed friends and family with a warm greeting and a smile. He enjoyed family gatherings where he often cooked. He was a seasoned Clabber and Cribbage player. An afternoon playing cards was always a good afternoon, especially if he won! Glad to be outdoors, Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, planting and tending garden, and picking up pecans in the fall. He was a 1954 graduate of F.J. Reitz High School. Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corp in the late 1950’s in California. Larry worked for Sterling Brewery more than 35 years and lived on Evansville’s west side, which he always called the best side.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Steve Clayton with burial to follow in Lutheran Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, and on Friday from 12:00 to service time at the funeral home.
