Laura “Frances” (Bottomley) Huber, 94, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011, at River Pointe Health Campus. She was born the tenth of eleven children to George and Gertrude Bottomley on July 25, 1917, in Mt. Vernon, Indiana.
Frances possessed great style and was an exceptional homemaker. She enjoyed playing bridge and, taking the game up fairly late in life, developed a real passion for both playing and watching golf. Of her many trophies, she was particularly proud to have been the first ladies’ golf champion at Oak Meadow.
Frances was preceded in death in 2005 by her husband, Curtis E. Huber, whom she loyally supported in his many business and political pursuits during their 63-year marriage. Following retirement, the couple spent several years in Florida enjoying golf and travel before returning to Evansville in 1999.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Janet (Rich) Badar of Newburgh and Kay (Mark Maurer) Huber of Evansville; son, Alan (Christine) Huber of Winchester, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Rob (Jackie) Badar, Michele (Dean) Maikranz, Andrea Huber, Gregory Huber and Elizabeth Maurer; great-grandchildren, Breanne and Laura Badar and Madison and Jordyn Maikranz; sister-in-law, Lucy Bottomley; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the Senior Helpers and the wonderful staff at Heritage Hospice, especially Jaime, Kari and Barbara, for their loving care.
No services will be held. Burial will take place at a future date in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any favorite charity.
