Obituary of Lawrence P Duss
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence (Larry) Paul Duss, on June 17th, 2022 at the age of 82. He passed in the assisted living unit of North River Health Campus in Evansville, IN. He was born in Mt Clemons, Michigan to the late John and Monica (Witkowski) Duss and was the youngest of two children. He married Kathleen (Kathy) Turunen on February 24, 1962 in Palmdale, California. Kathy and Larry had two children, Lynn Smith Evansville Indiana and Mark Duss Newport Beach, California Larry’s memory will be cherished by his daughter Lynn (Jon) Smith; and his son Mark (Christy) Duss; grandchildren, Lauren (Jordan) Sanford of Evansville, IN, Maddison Ubelhor of Bloomington, IN, Katie Ubelhor Evansville, IN; Morgan, Ashley, Shannon, Carter, and Tyler Duss, of Newport Beach, CA. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Kathy of 59 years, and his sister, Delphine (Dolly) Greblick. After Graduating from Mt Clemens High School, Mt Clemens, MI; Larry went on to graduate from Michigan Technological University; Houghton, MI, and was a licensed Professional Engineer. He began his engineering career in California working for the Bridge Department of the California Division of Highways. He proudly served his country in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps as a Contracts Officer at the Naval Air Station in Brunswick, Maine. Larry continued his engineering career working for industrial giants such as Caterpillar, Ford Motor and General Electric and Wal-Mart. He then decided to work for general contractors such as Turner, Walbridge-Aldinger and Perini Corp. And he was a lead Project Manager for the US Postal Service. Larry was an avid golfer and attended several PGA events. He liked to stay busy with projects, which included several large train displays, remote-control boats, and assembling grandfather clocks. Larry cherished spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He also spent time completing jigsaw puzzles, playing board games, cards, fly fishing, and travelling. Prior to his passing, he was grateful to have had the opportunity to fly to Washington DC on Honor Flight of Southern Indiana EVV12. No public services or visitation will be held.
