Lillian was a member of Simpson Methodist Church and received a life time membership to the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Mary Ruth Circle. She was an avid volunteer including the newsletter, food pantry fall festival booth and many other activities. She cherished her many friends at Simpson Church. She retired from
St. Mary's Hospital. Her family states she made the best apple and cherry pie in the world. Lillian cherished her time spent with family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Carl F. Avery on June 8, 2002; parents, Commodore and Stella Simpson; sisters, Ruth Moesner and Wanda Woolsey; brothers, James Simpson, Herman Simpson, and son-in-law and caregiver, Michael E. Gubler,
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Gayla Gubler and son, Galen (Gale) Avery; grandchildren, Michelle (Tim) Brown, Andy (Johnna) Blake, Chad Gubler, Jason Avery, and Brian (Marian) Avery; great-grandchildren, Aaron (Emily) Brown, Jonathan (Lexie) Brown, Emma Brown, Lily Blake, and Drew Blake; great-great granddaughter, Evangelina Brown; sisters, Sharon Kammon, Dorothy (Ray) Stone, Hilda June Wetzel, and Louella Sattler.
The family wishes to thank her many friends and care givers at Bethel Manor. She truly had a second family at Bethel Manor. Our heartfelt thanks for their love and support.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
