

Lois E. Brooks of Evansville, Indiana passed away at 5:19am, the morning of, Monday August 21st, at the age of 92 yrs. Lois was born on July 31, 1931 in Franklin, Tennessee, she and her family later moved to the Evansville, IN area.
Lois always had a smile for those around her and encouragement Lois and husband Richard were members of the Nazarene Church for over 70 yrs. Richard's mother and father Helen and Melvin Brooks were charter members of that same church which had been started in a home. They served the Lord in various positions over those many years as Officers, Board members, Sunday school teachers and janitors, wherever they were needed. Lois served as the Missionary President for many years and strongly believed in supporting our missionaries here and abroad.
Lois took care of the church's rose gardens and the outside of the church just as carefully as the inside and believed Gods house should look its best. She was a true testimony to how God can work in your life, showing a Christ like life, always helping others and bringing families to the Lord.
Lois is survived by daughter Brenda S Hughes and husband Charles, son Melvin R. Brooks and wife Lisa, sister Joyce Cowell and husband David, brother Dennis Lane and wife Judy, Brother; Greg Lane, grandchildren; Christina Hughes, Nick Hughes (Nicole) and Harley Avery, great grandchildren; Alexander Southard, Joseph and Jocelynne Hughes, nieces and nephews; Darlene Ross, Jeff Ross (Jackie), Dale Ross, Pam Ross Coursey (Gary), Peggy Woodruff (Scott), Amy Carter, John Carter (Malarin), Melissa Lane, Anthony Snyder, Rick Snyder, and many great nieces and nephews.
The family rejoices that she will be joining those many loved ones and dear friends who have preceded her in death and were awaiting her arrival in Heaven. Her husband of 70 yrs Richard Lee Brooks, mother Estelle H. Warren, father Thomas Lane (Alberta), mother-in-law and father-in-law; Melvin R. Brooks and Helen Brooks Slifer, Grandma & Grandpa; Ena and Robert Lee Travers. Sisters; Marie Hobbs (Forest), Sandra Wheeler (Tony), Dixie Snyder (James), Brothers; William Lane, Al Lane, sisters in law; Betty Ross (Marshall), Charlene Roberts (Gary), great-grandson; Noe Blake Southard, Nephews; Jeremiah and Randy Ross, Dale Snyder, niece; Susan Lane.
The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our mother during her final days.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Cathy West, with burial to follow at Tupman Cemetery.
Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 26 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:30am
