

After graduation, she moved to Evansville where she worked at Republic Aviation, building planes during WWII, and later at Stringtown Library as a children’s librarian. It was there that she was “checked out” by Donald Lee Gostley whom she wed in 1949. Lula was a life-long member of Grace Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school until she was 89. Writing was her gift, and she had many articles and devotions published along with two books.
Lula was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Donald Lee Gostley; parents, Mabel and Walter Hopkins; brothers, Ray Hopkins, Roy Hollis Hopkins and Bobby Hopkins; and sisters, Velda Brantley Hodges and Dora Miller Stevens.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Gostley Riordan (Steve); son, Kerry Gostley (Andrea Will); sister, Nancy Rushing (John); grandchildren, Ashley Riordan-Elpers (Jay), Tyler Riordan, Kara Gostley, Jamie Gostley and Susan Gostley; she was the much-loved Gigi to great-granddaughter, Rory Lou Elpers; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Grace Baptist Church, 1200 North Garvin Street, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 West Illinois Street.
