On December 14th of 1945 Jack and Thelma Hartmann were blessed with their daughter, who they christened, Lynn Dianne Hartmann. Inspite of a major snow storm coming down on the City of Evansville, Jack Hartmann walked every day from his job at Meade Johnson to the hospital to see his wife and daughter and then back home again. Thelma Hartmann stayed home to raise Lynn while Lynn attended Tekoppel Elementary School and then F.J. Reitz High School where she was a Band Majorette until graduating in 1963. Lynn had a brief enrollment at Indiana University in Bloomington but decided to return home to stay in Evansville after recovering from a severe kidney infection she developed while in Bloomington.
In 1966 Lynn married Dan O'Daniel by whom Lynn has three children. Lynn was a member of the Women's Junior League and St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where she also taught Bible School. Later Lynn was extremely active being a "Band Mom" for her daughter, Carrie, who was a majorette at Castle High School. She spent many weekends with her parents on their house boat on Lake Barkley where the grandparents enjoyed entertaining Lynn and the grandchildren.
Lynn and her family moved to Newburgh in 1989. She enjoyed being a Band Mom for her daughter and supporting Scott’s, one of her sons, scholastic endeavors at Cincinnati University, University of Evansville, and Ball State, receiving diplomas from each university. She was also very proud to know that Scott has almost completed his doctorate. Lynn's husband, Dan O'Daniel, became highly involved in Brett's, their other son, music career as the manager/financier of Brett’s band.
She became the primary care giver of her mother who was suffering from MS. In a way to fill the long nighttime hours of her vigilance for her mother, Lynn began writing HTML and developing web pages. This was during the late 90's when web pages were only beginning to have images on them. Lynn taught herself the HTML code and hand typed every byte of code for every page she developed. Lynn's web site was called "CloseWorld." Lynn referenced to herself as "Close" when chatting online in the Indiana Room of Prodigy. The web pages were not about Lynn. She developed pages for our Veterans, the wounded and suffering particularly, and she became a member of another online organization called the "Garden House" club. Lynn made all her own graphics using graphics software and special add-ons for professional affects. Lynn was a Web Master and has received dozens of awards for her web pages. The awards varied from, originality, artistic, and generosity.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Priest; children, Scott H. O'Daniel, and his wife, Katie (Ripple) O’Daniel, of Newburgh, Brett N. O'Daniel, and his wife, Abbe (Kastner) O’Daniel, of Evansville, and Carrie Catherine Morris, and her husband, Matthew Morris, of Florence, KY; grandchildren, McKenna, Tristan B., and Brittany O’Daniel, and Jack, Andrew, and Holland Morris; and great-granddaughter, Sabrynna Rose O’Daniel.
