Mabel was born in Tell City in 1924 to Louis and Elizabeth Mosby. Her dad was a farmer and they moved several times to different farms in southern Indiana. She moved to Evansville when she was 18. Mabel first lived with relatives and then at the YWCA. She loved to dance! It is where she met her future husband Bob, who was an Arthur Murray dance instructor. Dancing was their passion. They married July 9, 1949. She also loved to travel, going to a different place each time. Before you could finish asking if she wanted to go somewhere, she had gotten her purse and was out the door. When her kids became adults and left home, she would visit them around the USA. After Bob passed, she still traveled, cruised with them and even joined her daughter for a vacation in England.
Mabel worked at Chrysler during WW2, then for a few construction companies, but spent most of her life working for Drs. Underwood and Gaul as an office nurse. Once she retired from Dr. Gaul’s office, she decided she needed something to do and spent many years driving cars for Hertz. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
She was preceded by her husband, Robert (Bob) Scott; daughter, Shelley Bock; and son, Jeff Scott.
Mabel is survived by her son, Mark Scott; daughters, Tamara Scott and Beth Sharp (Phil); daughter-in-law, Michele (Champlain) Scott; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
