Macie Mildred Lauer passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at River Bend Nursing Home. She was born on September 21, 1924 to the late Joseph and Anna Coghill.

Macie was a wonderful cook, and loved sewing, gardening, and her flowers. She was a Reitz High School graduate and was a former member of Forest Hills Baptist, and currently a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Macie had unconditional love for her family and never raised her voice.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Herbert Lauer.

Macie is survived by her sons, Darrell (Mary), Donald (Temple), Dale (Julie); grandchildren, Brad (Jennifer), Brent, Gwen (Barb), Jill, Kathy (Ryan), Adam (Tiffany) Becky (Jason); 17 great grandchildren.

A special thanks to the staff at River Bend Nursing and Rehab (Pine Haven) and Heart to Heart Hospice for their kind and loving care.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Gerald Peeples with burial to follow in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church.

I met your Mom several time and she always looked nice, was gracious and engaged in conversation. She was smart and loved all of her family. I remember many pictures from holiday gatherings of your extended family…and the potato gun. 😉

We had the same birthday so it was easy to remember her. You all took careful and loving care of her. I’m glad you were able to be with her before she passed on to glorious heaven!
