Obituary of Margaret Marie Raley
Margaret Marie Raley, passed away on July 5, 2024 in Evansville, Indiana at the age of 102. Present with her was her granddaughter, Sally Behme Henderson, daughter, Annie Raley Pontow, and Annie’s husband, Art Pontow. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John C. Raley, her son Patrick Raley, her daughter Linda Firkel, and son-in-law, Tom Weber. Margaret is survived by her remaining children, Beverly Behme (her companion of 25 years and caregiver in her later years), Mary Weber (Gary Meister), Peggy Anslinger (Dan), John Michael Raley, and Annie Pontow (Art). She was a treasured grandmother to 16 grandchildren and great grandmother to 24. She was also a beloved aunt to many nephews and nieces. Margaret will be remembered for her grace and wisdom and was a model of generosity reaching out to others in need. She valued spending quality time with her family. She believed in lifelong learning and was an avid reader. Her hobbies included following the St. Louis Cardinals, bird watching, gardening, and travel. She began oil and watercolor painting in her nineties. Her deep Catholic faith defined her and her devotion to the rosary was profound and a daily practice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 5301 New Harmony Road, officiated by Fr. Ted Tempel, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, and on Wednesday from Noon until 1:00 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church. Special thank you to the SWIRCA staff, Maria Simmons, Heart to Heart Hospice, Fr.
