Obituary of Margie Elizabeth Hendrickson
Margie Elizabeth Hendrickson, 95, of Cypress, Texas, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. She was born on October 18, 1927, in Waverly, Kentucky, to Albert and Anna D. (Bartley) Mills. Throughout Margie’s adult life, she was a devoted mother lovingly raising five children and was to the last a true matriarch. She was known for her loving kindness and sweet and gentle heart. She loved staying home caring for her family, cooking delicious meals, (especially fried chicken or pot roast on Sundays), taking care of the home and attending church with her family. She enjoyed playing the piano and was gifted with playing by ear. In her early years, she spent many hours sewing as an accomplished seamstress making her daughter’s clothing. She enjoyed boating on summer weekends and Sunday afternoon drives in the country. In her later years, Margie spent time enjoying her grandchildren and with her favorite sisters, Evelyn, and Dorothy, going to the horse races, playing cards, bingo, and shopping. She loved fashion and wore her pearls most days. She enjoyed watching football on Sundays, (inspired by her son-in-law Grant). Margie’s best friend was Mrs. Bennie Williams. They were inseparable roommates, like two peas in a pod. For many years they spent afternoons reminiscing over old times while laughing and talking. Margie was truly a prayer warrior and prayed for her family religiously. She was quick to listen and slow to speak. Her actions spoke louder than her words. She was always accepting and encouraging with optimistic advice when her children poured out their troubles to her. She was a strong and courageous role model and an old soul who exemplified great wisdom. She is survived by her son Anthony (Tony) L. Hendrickson (Ruth Davis) of Richland City, Indiana, three daughters, Susan K. Hendrickson (Linington) of Port Orange Florida, Barbara L. Hendrickson (and husband Grant Gocke) of Plano, Texas, and Jackie E. Hendrickson (and husband Paul Owens) of Cypress, Texas, daughter-in-law Rita M. Farmer of Allen, Texas; by her ten grandchildren, Shannon Farmer (husband Scott Biard) of Powderly, TX, Christopher Farmer (and wife April) of Plano, TX, Roman Shepperd of Port Orange, FL, Gillian Linington of Ormond Beach, FL, Clinton Henderson of Columbia, SC, Cody Henderson of Smyrna, GA, Cade and Connor Gocke of Plano, TX, Haley and Anna Owens of Cypress, TX; and by five great-grandchildren, Tyler Biard, Macey Henderson, Myles Henderson, Haley Farmer, and Kai Shepperd. Also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Tilley of Newburgh, IN, Carolyn Shoultz of Prescott Valley, AZ, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, by her oldest son, Larry W. Farmer; her parents; her husbands Estell Farmer and George L. Hendrickson; two brothers, three sisters; and many cousins. Margie’s humble spirit, listening ear, warm smile, and tender heart will be missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27th, 2023, at Alexander Funeral Home-East Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Benny Alikandayil Chacko, on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In My Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2-3 Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com
