Obituary of Marguerite Edwards
Margie (Ackerman) Edwards passed away Friday, June 15th, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Marguerite Alma was born February 17th, 1932, in Dubois County, Indiana to Simon and Marie Ackerman, and graduated from Ireland High School with her soon-to-be husband Wilbur Edwards. Margie and Wilbur married in 1952, and after 52 years together, Wilbur passed away in 2004. In 1962, Margie, Wilbur, his brother Richard and his wife, Betty Edwards formed Leed Selling Tools Corp., which has been and continues to be a solid steadfast employer in the Ireland, Indiana area. Margie worked at Leed until her retirement in 1994, after which, she learned to play golf and joined the Lady’s Golf Club at Oak Meadow and Evansville Country Club. Margie was also a member of the Evansville Garden Club. However, her life’s primary joy was her family and she devoted herself to their happiness and well-being. Margie was the loving mother of Mary Kaye (Robert Knowlton), Barbara, and Doug (Laura) Edwards; a caring and playful grandmother of Christopher, Timothy and Gregory Knowlton, Alyssa (Matt) Anderson, and Jacob (Jessie) Edwards; a kind and gentle great grandmother of Sophia and Wyatt Anderson and Roman and Norah Edwards. Margie grew up in a close-knit family on a farm in Ireland, IN with Vera (Donald) Renner, Irene (Ernest) Werne, Raphael (Phyllis) Ackerman, Camilla (Jerome) Moeller, and Cleo (Fred) Brown. She has remained close to her siblings, their spouses and her many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday June 20, 2018 at Alexander North Funeral Home (4200 Stringtown Road, Evansville) and a funeral mass will take place at Annunciation (Christ the King) Catholic Church (3010 E. Chandler, Evansville) at 10:00 am Thursday morning June 21st. A family interment ceremony will take place at Shiloh Cemetery in Ireland, IN. The family would like to thank Heritage Hearthside (especially nurse Kim), as well as HomeInstead (especially Theresa, Veronda, Mary, and Gina) for the excellent care they provided to Margie. Please feel free to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://act.alz.org) or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation (https://alzfdn.org/) in lieu of flowers.
