Marie E. Rayoum

Marie was born on November 9, 1931, in Evansville, Indiana, to her mother, Stella Winternheimer Uebinger. She was raised by her grandparents, Elizabeth and Martin Winternheimer. Marie was a proud graduate of Central High School's class of 1949.

For 49 years, Marie was the devoted wife of the late Charles Rayoum, the love of her life, who preceded her in death in 2006. Together, they raised two daughters, Karen Daniel and Susan Heck (Bill). Marie’s legacy of love extends to her grandchildren, Jarod Daniel and Jordan Daniel (Taylor), and her cherished great-grandchildren, Charlie, Isaac, Madilyn, and Eloise Daniel, whom she loved dearly. Marie had one sister, Cindy Uebinger McKinney Warren (Mark). Additionally, Marie had the following nieces and nephews, John McKinney (Chastity), Brandi Warren, Celicia Jarboe (Dan), Mike Caputo, Tina Smith (Roger), and David Caputo (Diane).

Marie was a woman of many talents. She was a wonderful homemaker, renowned for her baking and candy-making skills. These treats were met with great expectation and brought joy and delight to family and neighbors. Each summer, she and Charles grew a bountiful garden and beautiful flowers. She canned and shared the produce and flowers. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and hospitality, where everyone was welcome.

Marie loved to travel. Early in life with Anna Mae and her Papa, Martin, she traveled around the country. They loved going to the sea. After marrying Charles, they took summer road trips with their daughters. Later they continued road trips together and family cruises.

Marie was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. As we bid farewell to Marie, we celebrate a life filled with love, kindness, and a caretaker of many. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and all those who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm with a funeral service to honor Marie’s life at 2 pm at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W Illinois Street officiated by Rev. Lynn Marino. Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her memory to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 7700 Middle Mount Vernon Road, Evansville, Indiana.
