Marjorie Helen (Flittner) Tyler, 92, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022. She was born November 17, 1929 to Fred E. and Esther K. (Caldemeyer) Flittner of Evansville, IN. She was the youngest of three children. Marjorie married Ross A. Tyler, Jr. in May of 1949.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Esther Flittner; brothers, Fred A. and Edward H. Flittner; husband, Ross A. Tyler; niece, Linda Holding; and sister-in-law, Margaret J. Flittner.
Surviving family members include: daughters, Diana J. Roache (Tim) and Jennifer A. Tyler; sister-in-law, Georgia Flittner of Wheat Ridge, CO; grandchildren, Lesley Allen (Brian), Nickolas Roache (Courtney), Brittany Holtz (Nick), Arika Damm (Alex), and Logan Powell; great-grandchildren, Gavin Rolley, Isabella Allen, Lily Allen, Paisley Damm, Oliver Damm, and William Damm; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marjorie was employed as a secretary in the auditing department at Citizens National Bank. She also worked for Faultless Caster Corp, EVSC, and Manpower.
Marjorie attended grade school at Daniel Wertz, Mt. Timpanogos School in Utah, Washington Grade School, Schmadel Grade School, and Perry Heights. She attended high school at F.J. Reitz High School.
Marjorie was a former member of the Evansville Choral Society and the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus. She was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ in Evansville where she was involved in the bell and adult choirs. After St. Mark UCC closed its doors, Marjorie became a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Evansville where her family attended. She was also a former volunteer at The Good Samaritan Home and Deaconess Hospital.
Marjorie enjoyed singing, reading, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her travels took her to all 50 states, Canada, Labrador, Newfoundland, Scotland, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Italy.
Family would like to thank Columbia Healthcare and Southern Care Hospice (especially Anne, Marjorie’s hospice aide) for their continued support and care for our mother/grandmother during this time of her life.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Rev. Emily Slade. Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery.
