Marjorie Emma Knauss Zion, born September 14, 1923, left this life to be with her beloved husband Roger Zion on December 24, 2021. Marjorie’s parents were Hazel and Otto Knauss of Evansville.
Marjorie is survived by daughter Gayle Zion Marbury ( Lemuel), son Scott Zion ( Julie), and son Randy Zion ( Nancy), grandchildren Carrie Tindol Heidrich ( Phillip), Nell Zion, Owen Zion ( Rachel), Zachary Zion, and Emma Zion, great grandchildren Declan, Calvin, Finley Rose, Jeff, and Glen Zion.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Roger Zion, her sister Dorothy Knauss Uehling, and her nephew Robert Uehling, Jr.
Marjorie achieved professional success as a knitting instructor, small business owner, teacher, counselor, and trustee for the University of Evansville, Harlexton. She was a lifetime member and supporter of PEO and a longtime member of Evansville Country Club, where she was also a parent and cheerleader for her 3 swimmer children. Many other athletic events of her children were faithfully attended over the years. One team voted her as an honorary member and awarded her a team letter. She received a state wide honor as the Indiana Businesswoman of the Year in 1978.
The family has everlasting gratitude to her loving caregivers, who attended her from 2019 to 2021. Marjorie achieved her goal to stay in the home she shared with Roger until the day she died.
Friends can visit at Alexander Funeral Home, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, on December 29 from 11am until 1 pm, with sharing of memories at 1pm, immediately followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family request donations to Vanderburgh County Humane Society, or the Dorothy Knauss Uehling Scholarship at University of Wisconsin, Madison.
