Mark Donald Whitehead, age 67 of Evansville, Indiana, passed away at his home on April 30, 2026. He was born in Springfield, Illinois on July 20, 1958, and was soon adopted by the late Dr Donald & Patricia (Hubert) Whitehead of Evansville, Indiana, which Pat described as one of the happiest days of their lives. He was proud of his two girls and loved being papaw.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mark, affectionately known by family and close friends as “Mad Mark”, was one of a kind and was a good friend to many. In his early years he enjoyed photography, even winning a few awards in high school. He loved anything with a motor, especially his beloved 1948 Chris Craft Racing Runabout, “The Torpedo,” that he has had since 1971. He was a member of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, Chris Craft Antique Boat Club and The Mariners' Museum and Park. He enjoyed following the Unlimited Hydroplane Racing circuit and was a volunteer crew member for several years. He loved making people laugh and was known as a prankster amongst his friends. He spent many summers in Charlevoix, Michigan, where his parents owned a summer home in the Belvedere Club for nearly 40 years, which was very much his happy place. He started his career as an ASE certified BMW mechanic at D-Patrick before leaving to start his own Mac Tool business. He spent many years in industrial tool sales with various companies before retirement.
