Martha E Barton

As a young woman she was a beautician. Later, as a homemaker while raising her four children, she was an active volunteer in their school and PTA. Church was always a big part of her life. She was active as a Sunday School teacher; leader of the Women’s Guild; member of the Senior Program and Salem Care Team. She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary and Eastern Star.

She especially loved camping with her family. She also loved her monthly Bunco games with good friends for over 50 years and line dancing.

She was preceded in death by her son, Randall E. Barton.

Martha is survived by her husband, Ronald E. Barton; daughters, Connie Waters (David), Jan Schmitz (Tom) of Evansville; and her son, Larry Barton (Reina) of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Keith Schmitz (Mandy), Randal Waters, Britney Schmitz (Avery), Landry Schmitz (Courtney); and great-grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Avalyn, and Aubree; brothers, Clarence and Robert Bailey; sister-in-law, Joyce Newman and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Alexander North Chapel and from 9:00AM until service time on Wednesday, March 5th. Service is 10:00AM Wednesday at Salem Church of Darmstadt officiated by Pastor David Peterson with burial in the church cemetery.
