

Marvin Lee Stewart, Sr., 97, of Evansville, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Heart to Heart Hospice. He was born on June 30, 1926, in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky to the late Rastus and Connie (Lyle) Stewart.
Marvin was a World War II Veteran and served in the US Army’s 38th Infantry in the Philippines. He retired from Tri-State Transit Trucking where he had been a truck driver for most of his life. Marvin was a very generous, kind and giving person. He was a member of Wellspring Church of the Nazarene.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Christine Stewart (1993); second wife, Hattie “Jo” Stewart (2015); and his daughter, Diane Barnes (2023).
He is survived by a daughter, Elviria Christine Demetro; sons, Marvin Stewart, Jr. and Wilford Stewart; son-in-law, Tom Barnes; 14 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN with Pastor Chet Todd officiating. Burial will be held in Judges Chapel Cemetery in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct full military rites at the funeral home. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, from noon to service time at the funeral home.
