

Mary Maxine (Majors) Murphy, 90, of Evansville, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Deaconess Hospital. She was born September 6, 1927, at Falls of Rough, KY, to the late Byron and Ollie Majors.
She graduated from Evansville College and was a medical technician with Deaconess Hospital. Maxine loved to cook, sew and cross stitch. She was a member of First Christian Church for over 50 years, and a current member of St. Paul’s UCC.
Maxine was preceded in death by her brother, Jay Majors; and parents.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George R. Murphy; daughters, Diana (Ralph) Scherer and Peggy (Dwayne) Mahrenholz; sons, Michael (Ravonda) and Patrick (Kay); grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Hall, Randy (Mandy) Scherer, Devin and Timothy Murphy, Nicholas and Nathan Murphy, Megan (Jarred) Perry and Matthew (Emily Greenwell) Mahrenholz; great-grandchildren, Griffin, Lucy, Grant, Andrew and Daniel Fisher and Kinley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Dr. Bill Wassner, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
