

Mary Ann (Brown) Sandleben, 87, passed away in Granger, Indiana on Saturday, August 6, 2016 after a brief illness. She was a resident of Evansville for 57 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Don W. Sandleben in 1988.
She grew up in Rushville, IN, the daughter of E.F. and May Brown and was the youngest, and last surviving of their four children. Mary Ann graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics and was a teacher before her marriage in 1953.
Mary Ann was a homemaker and very active in community organizations including, PTA where she was the “apple lady”, an annual fund-raising event at Evansville Central High School for 6 years, 4-H, Civitan, Red Hat Society, Eastern Star and The American Cancer Society. An avid Purdue fan, she was a member of the John Purdue Club, Gold Coats, holding season football tickets for 50 years, where her tailgate gatherings were legendary. She was a member of the Evansville Kennel Club and the Petroleum Club. She was also a member of the St Lucas United Church of Christ for over 50 years.
Mary Ann is survived by three children: Sandra Loepker (Mark), of Odenton, MD; Cindy Meyer of Granger, IN; and Gilbert “Chip” Sandleben (Kristi) of Fishers, IN; Four grandchildren: Andrea Kassel (Dan) of Severna Park, MD; Amanda Rae (Seth) of Pacific Grove, CA; Katey Sandleben and Tony Sandleben of Fishers, IN, and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Ella Kassel.
Visitation will be held at Alexander North Funeral Home on Friday, August 19 from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. with the funeral at the same location on Saturday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m.
