Mary’s primary occupation was a fabulous homemaker. However, in her late teens she began her working career at the Evansville State Hospital where she met John Neumann, husband of Mary’s deceased sister, Lucille. Also, quite significantly, at the State Hospital, she met her future husband, Paul H. Simpson, through Paul’s sister Ruby who worked with Mary. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 427 Ladies Auxiliary and the Council on Aging. She and her deceased husband of 74 years, Paul, enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, ballroom dancing and playing cards.
She is survived by son, Herb Simpson (Debby); daughter, Toni F. Harmon (Carlie); son, Gary A. Simpson (Brenda); daughter, Angela R. Redmon; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Payne (Julie); and nieces and nephews.
