Marygayle Williams, 72, of Evansville, IN, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. Marygayle was born in Evansville, IN, to the late Raleigh Tucker and Gertrude (Hollander) Tucker.
She retired from Evansville Central Library where she worked for over twenty years. Marygayle was a member of the Embassy of Christ International and the Order of the Owls. She was active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for 30 years. Marygayle enjoyed traveling, cruises, bowling, line dancing, and also played cards at the Germania Mannerchor. She loved spending time with her family and playing cards, especially clabber.
Marygayle was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chris Lee Schmitt; brothers and sisters, Patricia Rudolph, Rollie Tucker, Donald Tucker, and Carol Gilles; and great granddaughter, Winter Merie Sutton.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Schmitt; son, Doug Williams (Sarah); grandchildren, Cecily Schmitt, Joel Paul Lane III (Amanda), Sean Lee Lane (Amber), and Shanandoa Jordan; great grandchildren, Noah Lane, Gabriel Lane, Evelyn Lane, and Tucker Lane; brothers, Tom Tucker (Kris), Jerry Gilles (Gail), Ted Gilles; sister, Cathy Saddler (Kenny); ex-husbands, Fred Schmitt and J.R. Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Father Ted Tempel, with a burial at Alexander Memorial Park to follow. Friends may visit 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday August, 21, 2021. Memorial contributions can be made out to the American Diabetes Association.
