

Maxine Violet (Patterson) Ellis, 86, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 29, 1928, in Benton, IL, to the late James Anual and Ola Myrtle (Maddox) Patterson.
She was a 1946 graduate of Chandler High School and was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ German Township. She was also a 51 year member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed her love of flowers, sewing and playing table games with friends and family.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years in 2004, James E. Ellis; sister, Ilene Launius in 1978; step-mother, Katherine Patterson; and step-sister, Doris Jean Fisher in 1958.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Southern, Debra (Russell) Lux, Linda (Gil) Barchet and Krista (Andrew) Robards; grandchildren, Brian Southern, Lori (Chad) Johnson, Michael (Jennifer) Southern, Russell (Erin) Lux, Evann (Crystal) Lux, Ashlea (Ryan) Taylor, Jennifer Barchet (Brad Gant), Megan Barchet (Ryan Huck), Drew Ellis Robards and Kelsey Ann Robards; 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; one great-great-granddaughter; and step-sister, Mary Ann Garrett Kinney.
Friends may visit Thursday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Howard “Howie” Tobak. There will be a private family burial service.
The family would like to thank Sandra Mahrenholz and Melissa Padavic for the special care given and for being a part of our family. They would also like to thank Deaconess VNA Plus Hospice nurses.
