She was a member of Cleaves Memorial Church. Melrose worked for 16 years at St. Mary’s Hospital and 14 years at the Veteran’s Administration. She loved the Blues and cooking, and was the backbone of her family.
Melrose was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Amos Garth McNary on September 9, 2017; daughters, Mary Potts and Latonya McNary; mother, Margaret Ann Hill, step-father, William Hill and several sisters and a brother.
She is survived by children, Rose Anna Rice, Donna Smith, Rick (Johnetta) McNary, Chico McNary, Donnell McNary, and Dejuan (Karma) McNary, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be 11:00AM, Monday, October 2, 2017 at Memorial Baptist Church, 605 Canal Street, officiated by Rev. Dr. Amariah McIntosh and Rev. Adrian Brooks, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 9:00AM to service time at the church.
