He retired from Whirlpool and enjoyed gardening, trap shooting, and baseball. Melvin had served as a member of the Army National Guard. He also proudly operated a multigenerational farm for many years, mostly growing soybeans and corn.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Lester Weiss, Shirts Weiss, Robert Weiss, and Juanita Weiss.
He is survived by his children, Brian Weiss (Angel), Lorna Weiss, and Darryl Weiss; loving wife, Lorraine; stepchildren, Joe Weyer (Cindy), Robert Weyer (Sanae), Kelly Weyer and Theresa Menner (Don); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Immanuel UCC Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, IN.
