Michael Robert Griffis

Michael Robert Griffis, 59, known as Mike by those who knew and loved him, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015, in Newburgh. He was born December 24, 1955, in Fort Lauderdale, FL to Robert Pearson and the late Martha Horman Griffis. Michael grew up in Florida and was a graduate of both the University of Florida and Rollins College.

He married Susan Knox and together they lived in Ohio and Virginia before moving to Evansville. Michael was part-owner of an internet service company and the author of several business books. He was a very happy person, even during his final illness. His favorite things to do were spend time with is wife, his family, travel, read, and enjoy music and art.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Horman Griffis, of Palm Coast, FL.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Knox Griffis of Evansville; father, Robert Pearson Griffis of Palm Coast, FL; brother, William Griffis and his wife, Pamela Miller Griffis, and their daughter, Megan, all of Cullowhee, NC; three sisters, Barbara Griffis of Tamarack, FL, Beverly Griffis and her son, Christian, and her daughter, Elisabeth, all of Margate, FL, and Jen Griffis Barton and her husband, Brett Barton, and their daughter, Marina, and their son, Andrew, all of Folsom, CA.

A private celebration of life service will be held in January 2016 in Florida. His family will share in the spreading of his ashes.
