

Mildred “Daphene” Bowman, 89, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Oakview Heights in Mt. Carmel, IL. She was born July 30, 1922, to the late Joseph Oscar and Zelda Blanche Bowman. She was raised in Albion, IL and spent many years in Mt. Carmel, IL.
She worked for 25 years as a presser for Johnny Manufacturing Company in Albion and also twelve years at Mt. Carmel Apparel. She was a seamstress and also did pressing and alterations at Strouses Department Store in Evansville. She was a faithful member of Christ Chapel.
Daphene was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by four sisters, Rosy Elva Neal of Ohio, Beulah Thompson of Albion, IL, Velma Brown of Allendale, IL and Darlene Short of Bone Gap, IL; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Christ Chapel, 2701 Graham Avenue, officiated by Rev. J.T. Price and Rev. John Peach, with burial following in Macedonia Cemetery, West Salem, IL. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel.
