Montelle Joyce Jenkins

Montelle “Joyce” Jenkins, 93, of Evansville, passed Friday, August 31, 2018, at North Park Nursing Center. She was born September 4, 1924 in Sebree, Kentucky, to the late Guy and Bessie (Thomas) Hancock. Joyce retired from Whirlpool after over 30 years. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, flowers and traveling with her husband, after retirement, to Merritt Island, FL. She loved her dog. Joyce was a member of Oak Hill Bible Fellowship. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, parents, and brother, Morris Hancock. Joyce is survived by daughter, Sharon Sluder (Paul) of Jacksonville, FL; son, Larry Jenkins of Evansville; sister, Marcelle Puryear; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and nieces, Judy Green, Brenda Huber, Bonnie Puryear and Cheryl Harvey. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Eric Rawdon, with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
