Nancy retired from the Evansville State Hospital after more than 30 years of employment. She was a member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church and Evansville United Christian Fellowship.
Over the years Nancy and Dale shared their home with many nieces, nephews and others that have lived with them. She loved them just like her own. “Her charity never failed.” She lived for her children and grandchildren and her fervent prayer was that all of them would live for the Lord. She studied her Bible every day. It remained open there beside her chair to consult for whatever came her way. She was active in church meetings, prayer meetings and YMCA classes with her friends that she loved so much. Nancy also loved sitting on her porch enjoying her flowers and feeding the birds. As it was so well said by her granddaughter, Summerr (Woodruff) Ziegler, “When I get to Heaven, I just know you will be sitting in a rocking chair on Heaven’s front porch waiting for me.” We will all be looking forward to gathering again with her that day.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and 7 siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Truman Dale Woodruff; son, Gregory Lynn Woodruff (Belinda); daughters, Freida Jody Hayden (C. Eddie), Tammy Sue Klassy (Roger), Rebecca Ann Williamson (Kevin); sisters, Betty Woodruff and Martha McCollum; brothers, Larry Nelson and Billy Nelson; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Larry Lewis and Pastor Roger Willis with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen, KY. Friends may visit on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
