Nellie had an outgoing personality and a love for people. She never met a stranger. She worked several jobs and made lifelong friends at each one. She retired after 27 years working for the Employment Office where she was a claims taker/deputy. Nellie enjoyed cooking and eating out with her friends. Getting up early on a Saturday morning to catch a good yard sale was considered a good day for her. For years Bingo was a big part of her life and went several times a week faithfully. She enjoyed seeing her Bingo buddies. Nellie loved to travel when she was able, especially if she could visit a casino along the way. She never met a slot machine she didn’t like. She played slots in Atlantic City, Tunica and Niagara Falls. But going to Las Vegas was the best and after several trips there she was able to convince her daughter to go where a good time was had by both. Her absolute favorite pastime was just being with her daughter, especially shopping. She always said “shop until we drop or run out of money” whichever comes first!
She was preceded in death by her mom, Willie Mae Grundy White; sisters, Tracy White and Juanita White; and nephew, Andre.
Nellie is survived by her daughter, Jamie Charrisse Chambers; siblings, Betty Ann White, Evie Jennings, and Thomas White, Jr.; nieces, Mikka and Grace; nephews, Tony, Jason, Corey, Chris, Jordan, Nathan and Trey and a host of friends.
