Obituary of Nora N Heimann Ensinger
Nora N. (Heimann) Ensinger passed away Friday, December 23, 2011, at Good Samaritan Home in Evansville. Born August 28, 1917 in Pittsburgh, PA to William M. Heimann and Clenora (Thoma) Heimann, she married Floyd R. Ensinger on August 7, 1943 and bore him six children. Their marriage lasted for 59 years. Before she married, Nora studied to become a history teacher, but after she married she found that her soft gentle nature attracted a constant following of children and animals. She loved square dancing and crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader and, in her later years, learned to play the zither. She was a wonderful wife, a fabulous mother, and a true lady. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her only sibling, Mina A. Heimann, a granddaughter, Kimberly Ensinger, and a great grandson, Caleb Scheu. She is survived by her six children, Barbara English, Nancy Greene (John), and Paul Ensinger of Evansville, IN, Beth Purtzer (Steve) of Otterbein, IN, Terry Wilson (Gary) of Dubuque, IA, and Mark Ensinger (Julie) of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Melissa English, Elizabeth Greene, John D. Greene, Carol Bistodeau, John Wilson, Jennifer Connolly, Adam Ensinger, Paula Leclaire, Melanie Scheu, Christopher Spellum, Rachael Reese, Kevin Ensinger, and Peter Ensinger. At 94, she was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Alexander North Chapel, with burial in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Home, 601 N. Boeke Road, Evansville, IN 47711.
