

Paul J. Schmitt, 89, of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Villages of Hamilton Pointe. He was born April 18, 1926, in Evansville, to the late Aloysious and Elnora (Muehlbauer) Schmitt.
He was a WWII Air Force Veteran, serving in Europe. He retired in 1988 from Bootz Manufacturing after 41 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, woodworking, gardening, watching Notre Dame games and singing at Hamilton Pointe.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Joann Schmitt; his parents; brothers, Cletus, Clement and Clarence “Bud” Schmitt; sisters, Lucille and Leona Schmitt.
He is survived by son, Gary (Vicky) Schmitt; daughter, Paula (Jorge) Aussin; grandchildren, Amber (Steve) Fisher, Lindsey Schmitt and Briget Aussin; great-grandson, Aidan Schmitt Fisher; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Joann Fisher; great-grandsons, Preston, Chance, Bradley, Chad, and Austin; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 12:00 PM until service time.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to all the nurses, techs and caregivers at Hamilton Pointe for being such kind, loving friends and caretakers to Paul.
