Peggy Ann (Poling) Schwentker, 83, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Deaconess Hospital. She was born January 10, 1932, in Evansville, to the late Gilbert and Mabel (Heard) Poling.
She attended Washington Elementary School, Bosse High School, and received a BA from Vanderbilt University, where she served as president of Tri Delta Sorority. She was committed to serving the Evansville community through service in the Junior League, fundraising for the Philharmonic Guild, and supporting various local charities. She was a lifelong learner, loved to travel, enjoyed movies, books, and theater.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Pat Mathias.
She is survived by her son, John W. (Dava) Schwentker, Jr. of Greenwood, IN; daughters, Amy (Ted) Maroney of Hingham, MA and Ellen (Andy) Gallmeister of Evansville; and grandchildren, Daniel, Caroline, Savannah, Lauren, Carly, and Will.
Funeral Services were 11:00 AM Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Robert Schneider, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends visited Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
