Penny L. Merida

She was a homemaker and had worked as a CNA at Holiday Nursing Home. She was an avid reader as she loved her Kindle. Penny was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mamie Thurman; her in-laws, Jessie and Japona Merida.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jimmy Merida; daughter, Christina Duncan (Dennis); grandchildren, Abigail and Chase Duncan; brother, Jerry Thurman of Kingsland, GA; sisters, Jeanie Wilhite (Rick) and Rebecca Bledsoe both of Evansville, Jennifer Jackson (Greg) of Kingsland, GA; stepbrother, Steven Thurman of San Angelo, TX; stepsisters, Sheila Weaver of Odessa, TX and Diane Walker of Eldorado, IL; sisters-in-law, Kitty Massey and Cindy Norman (Rick); several nieces and nephews; and her favorite little dog, Teddy.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Alexander West Chapel with burial at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
