Phil Heston, age 93, went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2020. Phil was born on February 16, 1927 in Princeton, Indiana to Joseph and Evadine Heston. Phil graduated from Bosse High School in 1944 and Indiana University in 1948. Phil served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He married Edna Kennedy in 1949, and they were married 62 years. Phil and Edna had two daughters. Phil was a beloved father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was an inspiration to his family in many ways.
Phil was an owner and President of Heston Insurance agency for 39 years. He was past president of the Mutual Insurance Association of Indiana and National Secretary of the Mutual Insurance Association of America. Phil served on the board of the Evansville Rescue Mission since 1972. Phil was part of the original group who first met when Christian Fellowship Church began, and he was a member of various committees at CFC and volunteered with the Ministry to International Students. Phil also enjoyed boating in his free time and vacationing in Panama City Beach, Florida where he had a home.
Phil is survived by daughter Kathy (David) Abbott, grandchildren, Christy (John) Alvey, Julia (Curt) Condict of Zionsville, Indiana, Alex (Erin) Abbott, great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joel Alvey, Elise and Grant Condict, Austin, Grace, Elizabeth, and Ruth Abbott; daughter, Jan (Phil) Stiver, granddaughters, Anna (Andy) Lockhart, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Sarah (Adam) Hubert, and Becca (Jason) Clark of Gilbert, Arizona, great-grandchildren, Graham, Loey, Tucker, and Emmalee Hubert and Xander and Paxton Clark.
Phil was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Heston of Sacramento, California and sister, Mary Ellen Hopson of Evansville, Indiana, and wife, Edna Heston of Evansville, Indiana.
A funeral celebrating Phil's life will be held for immediate family only at Christian Fellowship Church. Rev. David Niednagel will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Christian Fellowship Church or The Evansville Rescue Mission.
