

She graduated from Bosse High School and attended the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. She was the organist for the Christian Fellowship Church for 35 years, starting when the church was founded in 1974. Phyllis also taught piano, teaching well over 1,000 pupils over a span of over 70 years. She taught Women’s Bible Classes for 55 years and enjoyed flower gardening.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Roland E. Niednagel; parents, John and Frances Mason; sister, Mariam Mason Stephens; and brother, Dr Everett Elmore Mason.
She is survived by her sons, Paul Meadows Niednagel of Laguna Niguel, CA, Rev. David Mason Niednagel of Evansville, Rev. Dr. Roland E. Niednagel of Ventura, CA, and Jonathan Philip Niednagel of Thornfield, MO; brother, Dr. John W. Mason of Woodbridge, CT; grandchildren, Jonathan, Stephen, Daniel, David, Paul, Christina, Matthew, Miriam, Michael, Melissa, Brynn, Jeremy and Jordan Niednagel; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 3, 2011, at Christian Fellowship Church, 4100 Millersburg Road, officiated by her pastor and son, Rev. David M. Niednagel, with entombment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday from 11:00 AM until service time at the church.
