Obituary of Ralph A. Depriest
Ralph (Slim) Andrew DePriest, 89, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Heritage Nursing Home. Ralph was born October 15, 1928, in Denson’s Landing, TN. Ralph is the oldest of six children born to Andrew (Jack) and Annie Grimes DePriest. After graduating from Central High School, June 1946, Ralph enlisted in the US Army. He was inducted on June 28, 1946. He was stationed at Seoul, Korea as a radio operator. From Korea, he was sent to Lawton, WA and received an honorable discharge in November, 1947. He married his “Sweetie Pie” Kathryn Clara Suhrheinrich June 3, 1950. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. Ralph was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ralph retired from SIGECO where he was a meter gas repairman of 42 years. He was a devoted and caring husband and father to his five children, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, David Wayne DePriest, and his brother, William DePriest. Ralph is survived by his children, Mark DePriest (Diane) of Dallas, TX; Daugher, Pamela Welden (Robert) of Evansville, IN; sons, Michael DePriest (Cecilia) of Poseyville, IN, Scott DePriest (Casey) of Newburgh, IN; and brothers, Van, Rex; and sisters, Naomi Hunter and Patty Plank. They kept a promise to their mother to get together every Monday for lunch bunch. He enjoyed his Monday get togethers and was very thankful and appreciative for all the help and care they provided. A special thank you to his brother, Van for picking him up each week. He loved his children and grandchildren and they were the joy of his heart. Grandchildren, Andrew and Andrea DePriest, Stacy (Welden) Jones, Jason and Justin Welden, George, Dominique and Nicole DePriest, Madelyn and Jacob DePriest. Great grandchildren, Damian, Drew and Layla DePriest, Kristian Normington, Trinity Hamaker Bentley and Sophia Welden. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Sean Esterline, with burial in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 941 E 86th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
