

Raymond L. Hawes, 79, of Evansville, IN passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center. He was born on May 4, 1945 in Evansville, IN to the late Thomas and Lorraine (Griggs) Hawes.
He attended Central High School, where he was a member of the basketball team. Raymond later earned his Bachelor's degree from Ivy Tech College. He served in the Army for three tours during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Seabees in Biloxi, MS. Raymond delighted in sporting events, horse racing, spending time with his dog, and traveling to Panama City Beach, FL. He enjoyed being around others and never met a stranger.
Raymond was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Roell and her husband Cecil; brother, Bob Hawes his wife Neva; brother, Bill Hawes and his wife Beverly; sisters, Barbara Mills and husband Paul, and Wanda Hawes; nieces, Sherry Roell, Lisa Roell, Kathy Effinger; and nephew, Terry Roell.
He is survived by his sons, Terry Hawes and Gary Hawes; ex-wife, Muoi Clinton (Harry Clinton); niece, Gina Novak; nephews, Perry Hawes (Diana) and Thomas Hawes; nieces, Vicky Ellard, Paula Smith, Laura Moody (Mike Moody), Rebecca Hawes, Renee (Hawes), Julie Roell; and Sheila Hawes; granddaughter, Payten Hawes; and beloved dog, Brody.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Alexander East Chapel. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Park Lawn Cemetery.
