Raymond E Merrill

Raymond “Ray” E. Merrill, 84, of Evansville, IN, passed away April 9, 2018. He was born June 12, 1933, in Hopkins County, Ky, to the late Aubrey and Ressie Merrill.
Ray retired from CSX Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer. He was a member of the Riverbend Association and local chairman for the BLE. Ray enjoyed fishing, he would catch anything that would bite, and he also enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
He loved traveling and spending time at his homes in Okeechobee, Florida, and Barkley Lake. Ray and his wife, Jeanette, went on many bus trips with their friends over the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jared Powell; Sisters; and brothers.
Ray is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanette Merrill; daughters, Rebecca Merrill, Kelly Powell (Terry); sons, Randy Merrill (Amy), Jeff Merrill (Lynda); sister, Martha Nichols; grandchildren, Lori Green, Raiford Putnam, Matthew Merrill, Daniel Merrill, Katie Waldroup, Morgan Merrill, Kaden Merrill; great grandchildren, Kailynn and Kaleb Powell, Raylin and Teagan Waldroup.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, with Entombment in in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9:00 until service time on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
