Rebecca J. Casteel

Rebecca “Becky” Casteel, 84, of Evansville, IN passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. Becky was born in Central City, KY to the late Marshall & Hazel (Brown) Lile.

Becky retired from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation after almost twenty years of service, including sixteen years at Caze Elementary School. Through her work in the school cafeteria, she found steady purpose in caring for children, and she was known for the warmth and attention she brought to those in her care. Among Becky’s greatest joys was time spent with her family, a devotion that remained at the center of her life.

Becky was formerly a member of Riverside Assembly of God, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and assisted with vacation Bible school. Her faith was a guiding presence, and she encouraged family and friends as they walked their own spiritual journeys.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents and her spouse, Jesse Casteel (2009) and eight brothers and sisters.

Becky is survived by her son, Roger Casteel (Mary); grandson, Jimmy Casteel (Mary Ann); two great grandchildren; sister, Catherine Timmons; brother, Sidney Lile (Sandra); sister, Ramona Hillenbrand (Michael); sister, Hattie Gill (Jimmy); sister, Ginger Elderbrook; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN with Pastor Paul Cavender officiating.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Alexander East Chapel. Burial will be held at Alexander Memorial Park.
