Obituary of Reno B. "Duke" DeMuth
Reno Ben “Duke” DeMuth, 87, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Linda E. White Hospice House. He was born on January 10, 1935, in Evansville, Indiana to the late Raymond C. and Florence (Lantaff) DeMuth. Reno was a member and Associate Minister for Blue Grass United Methodist Church. He was a 1953 graduate of F. J. Reitz High School where he played football. Reno was a graduate of the University of Evansville, and received his Master’s through Indiana State and also graduated from Garrett Seminary. He taught at Fulton Elementary, where he coached many undefeated basketball teams, and Central High School where he coached football. Reno also worked at the YMCA, and was the Assistant Camp Director and then became the Camp Director for Camp Carson. He was going to be inducted into the Camp Carson Hall of Fame. He served at several churches in the area and currently was the Associate Minister at Blue Grass UMC. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always looked for the good in everyone and was very positive and upbeat. He never met a stranger, was always singing and often said “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” Reno was a true man of God. He enjoyed fishing, reading and listening to gospel music. Reno is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florence (Ellis) DeMuth; daughters, Sherry DeMuth, Pam Schultz (Mike) and Alison Niemeier (Tony); grandchildren, Michael J. Schultz (Sara), Stephanie Kelley (Chris), Emily Schultz, Evan DeMuth Lochmueller and Kenan DeMuth Lochmueller; great grandchild, Sadie Schultz; and brother, Dan DeMuth (Melba). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Blue Grass United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Doug Heiman, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Blue Grass United Methodist Church and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.
